Hello from Ketchikan, Alaska! We have some great updates from Pacific Kelp Company to share with you this month, but first, make sure you're signed up for our emails by clicking here

Introducing Kelpex! A liquid kelp extract for plants and crops

We're thrilled to introduce Kelpex, a liquid kelp extract sustainably produced from the pristine, nutrient-rich waters of Alaska and extracted using our proprietary cold cell burst technology - preserving the full spectrum of bioactive compounds without the use of harsh chemicals. This premium kelp extract improves nutrient availability, optimizes soil conditions for increased plant vigor and enhances plant resilience against abiotic stress!

Perfect for home gardeners, nurseries, and commercial growers, Kelpex harnesses the power of kelp and delivers it straight to your plants via foliar spray, drip irrigation, root soak, or on germinating seeds. Kelpex works by enhancing your plants ability to more efficiently use available nutrients and by boosting your plants natural ability to defend itself from stresses caused by things like heat and drought.

Kelpex is our first agricultural product and will be hitting shelves and the fields in the coming months. We'll also be working with Cornell and Washington State University to study Kelpex, along with similar products made from farmed Alaskan kelp, on turfgrasses and winegrapes over the next two years.

We look forward to working with gardeners, nursery operators, home gardening stores, and farmers to help them to boost their plant health and sustainability!  If you are interested in trying a sample of Kelpex, please reach out at info@pacifickelp.co
PKC Founder John Smet presenting about Pacific Kelp Co. in Seattle
Introducing ourselves to the Washington Maritime Blue community!

Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to showcase Pacific Kelp Co. at a Washington Maritime Blue networking event in Seattle. It was great a experience connecting with ocean-focused businesses, investors, and collaborators who share our passion for sustainable solutions.

Our team presented about Pacific Kelp Co., the problems we're working to solve in the Alaskan kelp industry, and the benefits of kelp-based products. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited to see growing interest in kelp as a sustainable supercrop, especially in the Seattle area. Thank you to the Washington Maritime Blue team and to everyone who we met in Seattle - we look forward to growing our presence in the region through great partnerships like Washington Maritime Blue!
Expanding Our Future Farming Footprint

We’re excited to announce that we’ve applied for two additional kelp farming leases in the Ketchikan area, which will eventually allow us to expand our operations in Southeast Alaska. These new sites will enable us to cultivate even more Alaskan Giant Kelp to help us meet the large demand that we have for our products, while also supporting the local ecosystem and economy.

This expansion reflects our commitment to sustainable growth and to southeastern Alaska! We look forward to keeping you updated as we 'grow' the farming side of our business!
